Alan and Judy of AJ’s Market and Ice Cream at Southtowne, both grew up near Hollywood, California. Alan grew up in a home where his dad made chocolate malts before dinner. So began his love for sweets especially ice cream. Alan’s background is as an Entrepreneur, owning several businesses, in addition to working in Radio Broadcasting. Judy spent her life managing retail- real estate properties, and bookkeeping in the entertainment arena, so she has great understanding of retail business and finance.

Fast forward to 3 years ago where they sold their home and businesses and headed for retirement, in Beachy Downtown Pensacola, Florida. After 2 years in retirement, they looked at each other and said…”NOW WHAT”…So they opened up AJ’s Market & Ice Cream at Southtowne, in Downtown Pensacola, on the street level of their residence.

A new 259 unit, resort type residential complex, in desperate need of a local spot for treats and daily essentials. AJ’s customers are thankful everyday, for them opening, as this General Store / Ice Cream Parlor has truly added a big “Convenience” to the local area residents and business community. One of Alan’s 1st jobs was scooping ice cream at the local Thrifty Drug store. Ice Cream back in those days was 15 cents per scoop. AJ’s will be home of the big scoop, because at today’s prices, Judy & Alan want to make sure customers get their money’s worth out of their SCOOP. Besides the Ice cream fountain treats, the general store features: Beer ,Wine, Hard Seltzers, Gourmet Appetizers, Candy, Enegry & Soft Drinks, Tobacco, Lottery, Essentials, Frozen Dinners, Dairy, Produce, To Go Salads & Sandwiches.
